Watch your average run of the mill girl-on-girl porno scene and you’d be forgiven for thinking that all lesbians are young, have long cervix-piercing acrylic nails and can’t get enough of scissoring. While there’s actually a lot of really hot, authentic girl on girl porn out there on the interwebs, much of the mainstream two girl fantasy stuff has been filmed with the male gaze in mind. The result is porn that’s more performative and not really representative of what goes down between two girls (excuse the pun). As a full time gay who watches a lot of smut, here’s 5 things I think porn gets wrong about girl on girl sex.
We have really boring sex
Watch any lesbo porno and you’d be forgiven for thinking that girl on girl sex follows a very specific script. While there’s exception to the rule, a lot of girl sex porn that’s been directed by men is very formulaic and incredibly unimaginative. The porno protagonists are usually cast as curious cheerleaders, bisexual babysitters, slumber party pillow fights that turn lesbian (I wish this was a thing that happened) and the pre-lude to the entrance of the pizza boy. The sex that follows tends to follow a script of: women kiss (rarely proper pashing, usually a lot of tongues fighting mid air); women rub each others clits or use vibrators externally (for some reason there seems to be a criminal amount of use of those long, thin vibrators made of hard plastic that look like they’ve come out of an adult shop bargain bin); then there’s a little bit of oral (the focus is less on pleasure and more on the camera man getting quality pussy footage, so you’ll generally see the giver licking the side of a vulva, or the inner thigh in extreme cases, so as to not obstruct the view); then there’s some dildo penetration, then some more awkward cunnilingus (these days there is more ass licking than pussy licking), then an orgasm (generally a mutual orgasm).
The reality is that girl sex can include all or none of these activities, but mainstream porn tends to be obsessed with mimicking straight sex… but with two women (it’s all about the use of multiple positions and penetration).
